How Being Of Service Can Lead To Your Dream Career with Thomas Golubic

If you are a fan of TV, then you are most likely familiar with Thomas Golubic's work. One of the most sought after music supervisors in the biz, Thomas has worked on Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, Grace and Frankie, The Walking Dead, and the list goes on!

Have you ever wondered how someone got their REALLY cool job? Do you struggle with trying to find your path? Well, this might just be the show for you! Thomas Golubić is a Los Angeles-based music supervisor, DJ and Grammy-nominated record producer. His music supervision credits reads like a list of "Groundbreaking Shows You Can't Miss" and includes The Walking Dead, Better Call Saul, and Breaking Bad.Thomas came to LA to write but soon realized that wasn't where his passion lived. He wound up volunteering at KCRW and found his calling. During this episode, we talk about how volunteering can help you stumble onto your career path, the importance of being a team player, and how he uses his failures as fuel for his projects. Thomas gives us his perspective on maintaining work ethic, as well as candid insight on the life of a music supervisor.Thomas really got to the heart of why it’s so important to take your defeats and have the ability to look at them objectively. His take on putting your energy into a project that doesn’t flourish is refreshing; “There’s integrity in failure.”Thomas says his experience of failing at something that meant so much to him helped him to contribute his energy to helping something else succeed, and in that failure, he was able to find a more fulfilling path. Failure has the ability to force you into reexamining what’s important, how you can best channel your energy and your own personal definition of success. He shares how he uses these moments to face his fears, and how he turns those fears into inspiration. My favorite takeaway from his story is this: Engineering failure into your process isn’t a bad idea...even if it means feeling like a punch in the face.
