As a personal assistant, Jen realized her passion for turning chaos into tranquility and found herself fascinated by the process of organizing people’s homes to better serve their lives. She soon founded Life In Jeneral, a professional organizing company that approaches decluttering with empathy, strategy, and sheer ambition. Jen combines her expertise with a serving spirit to guide clients through the purging process and teach them the tools they need to stay organized for a lifetime.
During this episode, Jen walks us through how she connects with clients to find their vision and provides tips on how to get started organizing your next project. She also explores her upcoming projects and shares what motivates her to continue giving back in any way she can.
During our discussion, we talked about how overwhelming the start of a project can be and how this fear of not knowing where to start can hold you back. This doesn’t just apply to organizing your closet; it could be the fear of jumping into a new career or transitioning to a new phase in your life. Jen’s advice? “You just start.” She emphasizes how important it is to accept that nothing will ever be perfect, whether that’s in business or in life, and that there is a beauty in being “perfectly imperfect”.
Jen’s focus on giving back through her collaboration with charities and her commitment to genuinely understanding every client’s needs is truly motivating. Everyone has a story and she focuses on helping her clients climb out of the clutter and get back to experiencing life by thinking outside of the box and finding solutions that fit their individual needs.
My favorite takeaway from Jen’s story is that everyone can do this, they just need the tools to do it. She has made it her mission to teach others how to get organized but, more importantly, she also teaches them how to maintain it.
